There’s a problem with…

A photomap

I get an error when reviewing my Photo Map (Android)

There’s a known issue for some people reviewing Photo Maps in versions prior to 3.0.4. Please make sure that you’re running the latest version of Instagram from Google Play.

Fixed ongoing issue with follower/following counts

In December 2014, we fixed an ongoing issue that incorrectly included inactive or fake accounts in follower/following lists, so some people may have noticed a decrease in their follower/following counts. Keeping Instagram authentic is important to us, so we do our best to remove spam, fake accounts and other people and posts that don’t follow our Community Guidelines.

Note: This issue was fixed for the majority of Instagrammers in April 2014. By the end of December 2014, it should have been fixed for the remaining members of the Instagram community.

My new username isn’t appearing

If you edit your username and continue to see your old username within the app, you’re likely experiencing a caching issue. We cache certain images and text to make the app run faster.

Keep in mind that you’re the only person seeing your old, cached username. Eventually, your old username will be completely cleared out of our system. If you’d like the old username to disappear immediately, however, you can uninstall and reinstall the app to clear your cache.

Profile photos are mixed up or showing the wrong photos

There’s a known issue where some people may see the wrong profile photo when viewing a follower’s account. To fix the problem, delete and re-install Instagram. Your photos and profile data will be saved.

Liked photos

Photos You’ve Liked doesn’t display all of my liked photos

Because of the large number of liked photos on Instagram, the Photos You’ve Liked page now shows the most-recent 300 photos you’ve liked. This helps us make sure Instagram runs smoothly as the app becomes available to a growing number of people.

Push notifications

I’m not receiving notifications even after I’ve turned them on

If you turned on notifications but aren’t receiving them, you may need to adjust your phone’s settings.

Open your phone’s settings, scroll down and tap Apps > Instagram. Select the option to show notifications.

Open your iPhone’s settings app, scroll down and tap Notifications. Turn on the setting to Allow Notifications.

I’m getting someone else’s push notifications

Getting someone else’s push notifications usually happens when you let someone else log into their Instagram account on your phone. To stop the notifications from appearing on your phone, ask the other person to log into Instagram on another phone.

You can also turn push notifications off for your phone. Or, if you have access to the other account, turn push notifications off for that account only. Learn more about adjusting push notifications.

If you keep experiencing this issue, please let us know.

The Home tab or Feed

My app won’t load or I keep getting a “couldn’t refresh feed” error

If you’re having trouble loading the app or your feed, follow our troubleshooting steps. You may not be able to load photos in areas with a weak Wi-Fi or cellular signal. If you’re having difficulty loading the web as well, then it’s most likely an issue with your internet connection.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

  1. Some mobile carriers limit a customer’s mobile data after they’ve used a certain amount of data in a month, which can result in feed errors toward the end of the month. If you’re regularly having trouble using the app at the end of each month, contact your service provider (ex: AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile) directly.
  2. When there are a lot of people at an event, like a concert or baseball game, trying to use a mobile network at the same time, it may appear as if you have strong cellular signal even though connection is weak. This should resolve itself once you’re no longer at the event.

If you think you’re experiencing a technical problem with Instagram, you can report it within the app.
