Updating the phone number on your account – Twitter

Do you have a new phone number? Or do you want to remove your number so you can attach it to a different account? Either way, we’re glad you’re here. An accurate and up-to-date phone number is an important step you can take toward improved account security.

Updating your phone number via Twitter for iPhone:

1. On your profile, tap the gear icon  and select Settings.
2. Tap the account you’d like to remove a phone number from.
3. Scroll down to Phone Number and tap it to receive an option to remove this number.
4. When you see the prompt asking Do you want to remove the number?, select OK and enter your password to confirm.

Updating your phone number via Twitter for Android:

1. Tap the overflow icon  and select Settings.
2. Tap the account you’d like to remove a phone number from.
3. Scroll down to Phone Number and tap it to receive an option to remove this number.
4. When you see the prompt asking Do you want to remove the number?, select OK and enter your password to confirm.

Updating your phone number via the web:

1. Log in to your Twitter account.
2. Click the your profile icon at the top right corner of the navigation bar and select Settings from the drop-down menu.
3. Click on the Mobile tab.
4. If your mobile phone number has already been added to your account you will see a Delete my phone link.
5. Click the Delete my phone link and the mobile number will be removed from your Twitter account.
6. After you have removed your mobile number, the screen will give you the option to connect a new mobile number to your account.

To remove your mobile number via SMS:

1. Using the phone you want to remove from your Twitter account, send a text message containing only the wordSTOP to your country’s Twitter short code).
2. Your mobile number will be removed from your Twitter account immediately.
