On June 23, 2015, Instagram released version 7.0 to the App Store and the Google Play Store with a completely redesigned Search & Explore experience. Discover new content with trending hashtags, trending places and featured photo/video collections curated by our editorial team. You can also now search places and use the newTop search to quickly find popular content. Learn more:
How are photos and videos chosen for Search & Explore?
We’re always working to update the types of photos and videos you see in Search & Explore to better tailor it to you. For example, we may show you photos liked by people whose posts you’ve liked or posts that are liked by a large number of people in the Instagram community.
How are trending hashtags and places chosen for Search & Explore
This feature isn’t available in your location right now.
What are Top Posts on hashtag or place pages?
At the top of some hashtag and place pages you may see a section called Top Posts above Most Recent. Top posts appear on trending hashtags and places to show you some of the popular posts tagged with that hashtag or place.
How are topics chosen for the collections featured on Search & Explore?
This feature isn’t available in your location right now.
If you see a post in Search & Explore, it doesn’t mean that everyone else is seeing it. We’re always working to update the types of posts you see in Search & Explore to better tailor it to you. For example, we may show you photos and videos that people you follow have liked or are liked by a large number of people.
If your account is set to private, only your approved followers will be able to see photos you’ve shared in Search & Explore.
How do I search on Instagram?
You can search for people and hashtags using the search bar at the top of Search & Explore. To search Instagram, tap > Search then choose whether you’re looking for Users or Hashtags.
You can search people by their name or username. The search results you see are based on a variety of factors, including the people you follow, who you’re connected to and what photos and videos you like on Instagram.
How do I find people I might like to follow?
You can find people you might like to follow in Search & Explore. Tap to go to Search & Explore.

Scroll down to Explore Posts to see photos and videos that people you follow have liked or that a large number of people have liked

Tap Explore People at the top of the page to see accounts you might like, based on a variety of things, including who you follow, who you’re connected to and what photos and videos you like on Instagram
You can also find suggested Instagrammers by going to your account settings and tapping Find Friendson Android or Find People to Follow on iPhone.

Manage Your Filters
You can add, hide and rearrange the filters you see when posting a photo. Learn more:
How do I add, hide or rearrange my filters?
You can personalize your filters by adding, hiding and rearranging the filters you see when posting a photo. Start by swiping right until the end of your filters. Then tap Manage.

To add a filter: Tap the filter you’d like to add. You’ll see next to the filters that currently appear when you post a photo.

To hide a filter: Tap the filter you’d like to hide. You’ll see next to filters that are hidden.

To rearrange your filters: Tap and hold the filter you’d like to move. Then drag it to the position you’d like.
When you’ve finished personalizing your filters, tap to return to your photo/video.
I don’t see one of my filters. Can I get it back?
If you don’t see one of your filters, you can find it on your Manage Filters page. You’ll see next to the filters that appear when you’re editing a photo and next to the filters that are hidden. To add a hidden filter back:
- Swipe to get to the end of your filters and tap Manage
- Tap the filter you’d like to add
- Tap to return to your photo
