Channel Sections

Channel sections

Channel sections are a great way to organize and promote content you create and content created by others that you wish to curate and highlight on your channel home tab. There can be a maximum of 10 sections on your channel home tab. Sections can be created from a single existing playlist (created by you or someone else), a group of playlists, or a group of channels.

Note that sections can no longer contain a mix of videos and playlists.

  2. Click the Add a section btn located towards the bottom of your channel home tab
  3. In the “Content” drop down you can select the type of content you want to appear in your section
  4. In the “Layout” drop down you can choose to have the section displayed as a horizontal row or a vertical list

Edit a section

To edit a section, hover over the section and click the pencil icon located at the top right corner of the section. In the edit screen you can edit the content and layout of the section.

Reorder sections on your channel home tab

To reorder sections on your channel home tab, hover over the section and click the up or down arrows located at the top right corner of the section to move the section above or below other sections.

Video sections

The different sets of videos available to feature in a section are:

  • Popular uploads
  • Recent uploads
  • Liked videos

If you have the Live Events feature enabled for your channel, you can feature live events that are live now, upcoming live events, or completed live events in a section.

Playlist sections

The different types of playlist sections are:

  • Playlists (feature all playlists created by the channel in a section)
  • Single playlist
  • Multiple playlists
  • Liked playlists

Single playlist or multiple playlist sections can contain playlists created by the channel or playlists created by other channels. Enter the playlist URL when creating or editing a section to feature a playlist created by another channel. You can find the playlist url by copying and pasting the URL from your browser when you are either watching the playlist or viewing the playlist landing page (e.g. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbpi6ZahtOH6G32bmt5MctZwM1_rVBpCz).

Sections created from a single playlist will display a “Play all” btn so visitors can view all of the videos from the playlist with a single click.

The playlist title and description will display in the section for single playlist sections.

Other sections

Other types of sections include:

  • Recent activities
  • Recent posts
  • Channels (other channels you wish to promote on your channel)

If you have the Paid Subscriptions feature enabled for your channel and your channel is packaged with another paid channel, you can feature channels included with this subscription and free channels presented without ads in a section.

$0.45 USD - $4.00 USD

Note: The accepted formula that Auxiliary Mode Inc. uses to calculate the CPM range is $0.45 USD - $25.00 USD.

The range fluctuates this much because many factors come into play when calculating a CPM. Quality of traffic, source country, niche type of video, price of specific ads, adblock, the actual click rate, watch time and etc.

Cost per thousand (CPM) is a marketing term used to denote the price of 1,000 advertisement impressions on one webpage. If a website publisher charges $2.00CPM, that means an advertiser must pay $2.00 for every 1,000 impressions of its ad. The "M" in CPM represents the Roman numeral for 1,000.
