This guide explains how to create a YouTube channel, add managers, and set up a channel trailer.
Creating a YouTube channel
To upload videos, comment, or create playlists, you must first have a channel. Without one, your activity remains private and you have no public presence on YouTube.
You can create a channel using a Google Account through entity[“software”,”YouTube Studio”,”video management platform by YouTube”] or YouTube itself.
Create a personal channel
A personal channel is managed by one person.
- Sign in to YouTube on a computer or mobile browser.
- Click your profile picture and go to Settings.
- Open Account.
- Select Add or manage channel(s).
- Click Create a channel.
- Add a profile picture, channel name, and handle.
- Click Create channel.
Create a business or shared channel
A business channel allows multiple users to manage it using a Brand Account.
- Sign in to YouTube.
- Go to your channel list.
- Choose one of the following:
- Select Create a new channel, or
- Choose an existing Brand Account.
- Enter your channel name, handle, and profile image.
- Click Create channel.
Brand Accounts are useful for teams, brands, or organizations because they allow shared management.

Role types
When adding someone to your channel, you can assign:
- Owner – Full control, including managing other users

How to add a manager
- Open entity[“software”,”YouTube Studio”,”video management platform by YouTube”]
- Go to Settings → Permissions (or Brand Account settings)
- Click Manage permissions
- Select Invite new users
- Enter the person’s email address
- Choose their role (Owner, Manager, or Communications Manager)
- Send the invitation
The user must accept the invitation before gaining access.
Setting up a channel trailer
A channel trailer is a short video that introduces your channel to new viewers. It appears on your channel homepage and encourages people to subscribe.
How to add a channel trailer
- Sign in to entity[“software”,”YouTube Studio”,”video management platform by YouTube”]
- From the left menu, select Customization → Layout
- Find the Channel trailer section
- Click Add
- Choose a video from your channel
- Click Publish

- Keep it short and engaging (30–60 seconds)
- Clearly explain what your channel is about
- Include a call to action (e.g., “Subscribe for more content”)
- Use your best or most representative content
