Getting Started with YouTube Analytics

YouTube Analytics helps you understand how your channel and videos are performing using key metrics, charts, and reports inside YouTube Studio. For deeper insights, you can use Advanced Mode, which allows you to compare performance, filter data, and export reports.

Note: Some information such as location, gender, or traffic sources may be limited.

How to Access Analytics

On Computer

Channel-level analytics:

  1. Sign in to YouTube Studio
  2. Click Analytics in the left menu

Video-level analytics:

  1. Go to YouTube Studio
  2. Click Content
  3. Hover over a video and select Analytics

On Android & iOS (YouTube App)

  • Open the YouTube app
  • Tap your profile picture
  • Select View Channel → Analytics

OR

  • Open a video
  • Tap More → View analytics

On YouTube Studio App

Channel analytics:

  • Open the Studio app
  • Tap Analytics from the bottom menu

Video analytics:

  • Go to Content
  • Select a video
  • Tap View More

Main Analytics Sections

Overview

  • Shows a summary of performance including views, watch time, and real-time activity. Available for both channels and individual videos.

Content

  • Provides insight into how viewers discover and interact with your videos, including impressions and top-performing content.

Reach

  • Focuses on how viewers find your videos, including impressions, click-through rate, and unique viewers.

Engagement

  • Displays how long viewers watch your content, including watch time and average view duration. For Shorts, it also includes engaged views.

Audience

  • Shows who is watching your content, including returning viewers, new viewers, and subscriber growth.

Revenue (If Eligible)

  • Available for YouTube Partner Program members. Tracks estimated earnings, ad revenue, and finalized payouts through AdSense.

Trends

  • Highlights popular topics and search trends on YouTube to help inspire new content ideas.

Advanced Analytics Mode

Advanced Mode allows you to:

  • Analyze deeper audience behavior
  • Compare video performance
  • Filter detailed metrics
  • Export analytics data
