About YouTube Kids
YouTube Kids is a safer version of YouTube made for children. It shows a smaller selection of videos that are more appropriate for kids. The goal is to help children explore, learn, and have fun in a safer online space.
Content Rules
All videos on YouTube Kids must follow strict rules. Content will not be included if it:
- Is meant for viewers over 13 or adults (18+)
- Breaks YouTube Community Guidelines
- Is too inappropriate for children
Age Settings
Parents can choose one of three settings based on age:
Preschool (Ages 4 and under)
Content focuses on learning and play, such as cartoons, nursery rhymes, crafts, and simple educational videos.
Younger (Ages 5–8)
Includes a wider range of videos like games, DIY projects, music, and family-friendly content.
Older (Ages 9–12)
Includes more advanced content like gaming, vlogs, sports, and educational videos for older kids, while still filtering out mature content.
What Content May Include
Depending on the age group, videos may include:
- Light, non-violent or educational scenes
- Basic learning about emotions, health, and life topics
- Simple language and kid-friendly humour
- Safe creative or educational challenges
What Is Not Allowed
YouTube Kids does not allow:
- Strong violence or harmful content
- Adult or sexual content
- Excessive advertising or content focused on selling products
- Misleading titles or thumbnails (clickbait)
- Content designed to trick or mislead children
Commercial Content
Videos that heavily promote products or act like advertisements are not allowed. Content must not pressure children to buy or focus too much on products.
These rules help make sure YouTube Kids stays a safe, fun, and positive place for children to watch videos and explore their interests.
