The Explosion of YouTube’s Popularity
YouTube and Google are the top two used platforms in the world. Google’s popularity makes sense since it connects you to all other sites around the world. If you had you told me ten years ago that YouTube was going to have billions of views daily, I would have never believed you. Today, YouTube has over 1 billion users and generates over 3 billion views everyday. YouTube’s popularity exploded because it gave creators a platform to become famous and gave users the access to consume any content imaginable, all for free.
Becoming a star on YouTube is not easy, but it is possible. There are many YouTube stars now who are globally known, like PewDiePie, but there are even more that have made their start on YouTube and now moved to bigger stages, like Justin Bieber or Donald Glover. By using the tools YouTube provides; view count, subscribers, and the trending page, you can see what people are into at this moment and relate your material to it. Internet content or “multi-channel network” providers could help bring one’s content to another level of fame. A company like Aux Mode distributes videos on platforms such as YouTube, Vine, Instagram, Facebook and many others. It is important to expand to the correct social media outlet while still pleasing your target audience. Although it is important to show your content on other websites gaining a subscription base on YouTube is critical.
In an Interview with Aux Mode’s CEO, Adam Rumanek, he said, “In order to own your audience online you have to get them to subscribe to your channel first. Subscribers are 50% more likely to watch your content.” A large popularity on YouTube drives more traffic to your own website. In every video one should add a link to their website and when people are exposed to every video they are more likely to click it and view their website. With 300 hours of content uploaded every minute YouTube will continue to expand and new stars will rise.
