To monetize on YouTube, creators must first accept the Base Terms, then choose optional monetization Modules.
Base Terms
The Base Terms are required for all creators in or applying to YPP. They include:

Monetization Modules

Enables earning from:
- Ads on watch pages
- YouTube Premium revenue
- Embedded video playback on external sites
Without this module, creators cannot earn ad revenue from long-form or live content.
2. Shorts Monetization Module
This module enables revenue sharing from:
- Ads shown in the Shorts Feed
- YouTube Premium views on Shorts
Once enabled, earnings begin from the activation date. Views before activation are not eligible.
3. Commerce Product Module
This module enables fan funding tools, including:
- Channel Memberships
- Super Chat
- Super Stickers
- Super Thanks
These features help creators earn directly from viewers.
What Happens If You Don’t Accept Updated Terms
- You must accept the Base Terms to stay in YPP
- Without acceptance, you cannot earn monetization revenue
- Shorts monetization requires acceptance of both Base Terms and Shorts Module
- Failure to accept by the deadline may result in removal from YPP
- After removal, you must reapply to rejoin
Even if removed from YPP, YouTube’s Terms of Service still apply, and ads may still appear on your content.
