1. Create your YouTube Icon (Profile Picture)
Your icon is the small image shown next to your videos, comments, and channel name.
Steps (Computer)
- Go to YouTube Studio
- Click Customization → Profile
- Under Profile picture, click CHANGE
- Upload or choose an image from your computer
- Crop and adjust it
- Click PUBLISH
Design tips
- Use a square image (1:1 ratio)
- Keep it simple (logo, face, or symbol)
- Minimum recommended size: 800 × 800 px
- Make sure it still looks clear when shrunk into a tiny circle
2. Create your YouTube Header Art (Banner Image)
This is the large background image at the top of your channel page.
Steps (Computer)
- Open YouTube Studio
- Go to Customization → Profile
- Under Banner image, click CHANGE
- Upload your design
- Adjust cropping for mobile/desktop/TV
- Click PUBLISH
Banner size requirements
- Recommended size: 2560 × 1440 px
- Minimum upload size: 2048 × 1152 px
- Safe area (text/logo should stay here): 1235 × 338 px (center area)
- File size: under 6 MB
Design tips for banner art
- Keep important text in the center safe zone (otherwise it gets cut on mobile)
- Use bold, simple visuals (too much detail gets lost)
- Match your icon + banner style (same colors/fonts = stronger branding)
- Avoid clutter—YouTube compresses images on different devices
Common mistakes to avoid
- Putting text too close to edges (it gets cropped on phones/TVs)
- Using low-resolution images (they look blurry on large screens)
- Overloading the banner with too many elements
