Differentiating yourself in business ventures is key to ongoing success and effort focused on narrow choices leads to greater productivity and increased profits.

Companies use two different approaches up-down approach and bottom-up approach. The up-down approach, companies become big in small markets—movement from mass markets to niche markets. The bottom-up approach, companies start with individual customers and build a niche around it– from single niches to multiple niches.
